7–10Computing Technology 7–10 Syllabus
The new Computing Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2022) is to be implemented from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching the new syllabus
Students who commenced studying the Information and Software Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2003) in 2023 may continue to study that Syllabus in 2024.
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Recognise the key components of a real-world network
Recognise a familiar social network
Develop network maps for familiar social networks
Explore the concept of connectedness through familiar social networks
Identify the interactions of a network that are created using the theory of connectedness
Explore how computer technology is used to promote interactions between various networks
Identify the connections made by networks
Respond to social and ethical issues related to computer technology
Independently or collaboratively participate in producing a digital, physical or biological network map
Collaboratively plan ways to investigate a user’s interactions with digital tools and technologies
Research the evolution and innovation of interactive sharing solutions
Use computer technology to record interactions
Explore how everyday devices connect, interact and exchange data
Explore the social ramifications of virtual connections through online networks
Use a scaffold to manage time and resources when developing a digital resource
Design and produce an online sociogram based on networks of people, including genealogy, friendship and social media
Design a navigational map of different global or local networks
Participate in creating a digital game or program using software to engage a specific audience
Write an algorithm to engage an identified audience in a simulated web application, program or online game environment
Recognise the impact a program or product has had on the intended user
Monitor the performance of a network in terms of bandwidth, speed, connectedness, compatibility and reliability
Use feedback to evaluate the product
Use a scaffold or checklist to evaluate their design and development skills
Reflect on how people’s changing needs have shaped computer technology
Independently or collaboratively evaluate a network map or sociogram, including accuracy, efficiency, reliability, clarity
