The new Agriculture 11–12 Syllabus (2026) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Agriculture Stage 6 Syllabus (2013).

- Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028, Term 1
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Start implementing new Year 11 school-based assessment requirements
- Continue to teach the Agriculture Stage 6 Syllabus (2013) for Year 12
2028, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
- Start implementing new Year 12 school-based assessment requirements

- First HSC examination for the new syllabus

Describe the structure and function of parts in a ruminant digestive system
Describe the structure and function of parts in a monogastric digestive system
Describe the function of parts in the reproductive system of a mammalian production animal
Describe the function of parts in the reproductive system of an avian production animal
Explain the roles of testosterone, oestrogen and progesterone in animal reproduction
Analyse the effect of photoperiod changes on animal reproduction
Explain legislation and regulations for ethical animal care and management practices, including providing water, feed, shelter, adequate space, socialisation and a safe environment
Describe the physical and behavioural characteristics of production animals that can assist with safe management, including herding instinct, and maternal and territorial behaviours
Explain how a technology has improved animal welfare outcomes
Describe the phases of growth and development of a commercial production animal from conception to maturity
Describe how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples use and manage animals, including as totems and through Cultural burns
Describe patterns of inheritance, including dominant, recessive, codominance and incomplete dominance, in the traits of commercial production animals
Explain genotype and phenotype
Explain how the proportions of bone, muscle and fat change at various stages of development in a production animal
Explain the interaction of genotype, environment and nutrition on the growth and development of production animals
Explain the use of a technology designed to monitor growth in production animals
Evaluate the impact of genetics on animal production in an agricultural enterprise
Identify a pest and a disease found in animal production
