The new Agriculture 11–12 Syllabus (2026) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Agriculture Stage 6 Syllabus (2013).

- Start implementing new Year 11 school-based assessment requirements
- Continue to teach the Agriculture Stage 6 Syllabus (2013) for Year 12

Year 11
Describe the structures and functions of xylem and phloem in plants
Describe how osmotic pressure and transpiration control the movement of water and dissolved minerals through the xylem and phloem
Describe how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples use and manage plant parts for medicinal and food consumption
Conduct a practical investigation to determine how the structures of leaves, stems and roots support their functions in gas exchange, and water and nutrient transport
Identify the abiotic factors that affect the growth of plants, including light, atmospheric gases, soil type, the available moisture and nutrients, temperature and wind
Describe the purposes of genetic selection in plants, including disease resistance, drought resilience, increased yield and enhanced quality
Compare the phases of growth in a monocotyledon and a dicotyledon used in commercial agricultural production
Explain the use of a technology designed to monitor plant growth
- Use the summary equation to describe the process of photosynthesis
- Use the summary equation to describe the process of cellular respiration
Evaluate the impact of genetics on plant production in an agricultural enterprise
