The new Agriculture 11–12 Syllabus (2026) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Agriculture Stage 6 Syllabus (2013).
2027
- Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028, Term 1
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Start implementing new Year 11 school-based assessment requirements
- Continue to teach the Agriculture Stage 6 Syllabus (2013) for Year 12
2028, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
- Start implementing new Year 12 school-based assessment requirements
2029
- First HSC examination for the new syllabus
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Recognise food and fibre products used in everyday life
Identify plants and animals used in agricultural production
Identify plants and animals commonly grown in Australia
Identify where agricultural plants and animals are grown
Identify natural resources needed for plant and animal growth
Identify how growing plants and animals impacts natural resources
Identify types of farms
Identify why the location of a farm is important
Identify locations of major agricultural industries across NSW
Identify on-farm areas of production
Explore the importance of sustainable agricultural production
Explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Practices for sustainable agricultural production
Recognise food and fibre products produced in agricultural production systems
Identify the key activities involved in the production of agricultural plants or animals
Identify the inputs needed to produce agricultural plants and animals and how they are used
Identify the outputs of agricultural plant and animal production
Explore the relationship between natural resources, plants and animals in an agricultural production system
Explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Knowledges and Practices relating to the environment that protect and manage resources
