The new Personal Development, Health and Physical Education 7−10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.

2027 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Stage 4
- PH4-SHP-01
plans for and uses strategies to participate in activities that encourage safety, health and lifelong physical activity
- PH4-SMI-01
refines and applies self-management and interpersonal skills to manage complex situations
Some students with disability may require adjustments or modifications, including the use of assistive devices to participate in physical activity.
Participate in a range of physical activities and investigate how they address personal needs, interests, fitness, health and wellbeing
Participate in a range of culturally significant physical activities and analyse the purpose of these in creating cultural understanding and skill development
Participate in physical activities that use community spaces and outdoor settings, and evaluate strategies to identify and support increased use of these spaces, including active transport
Examine and demonstrate how rules, equipment, scoring systems and space can be modified to enhance enjoyment, inclusion and a sense of accomplishment
Examine how fitness and physical activity can improve mental health and wellbeing
Define the health-related and skill-related components of fitness and explain how they can be maintained and enhanced
Design and perform fitness circuits and exercises with minimal equipment that aim to improve one or more components of fitness
Propose and apply realistic strategies for maintaining and monitoring fitness, health and wellbeing
Explain and apply specific warm-up and cool-down activities to a range of physical activities
Demonstrate and explain how protective equipment and environmental and individual factors can influence safety during physical activity
