Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Recognise and/or identify their own personal care needs, including conditions which require medication and/or treatment
Recognise the importance of routine personal care procedures in staying healthy
Identify procedures and routines needed for daily personal care
Demonstrate and/or participate in personal care procedures
Identify people who can assist them with their personal care needs
Recognise their right to consent in relation to personal care assistance
Recognise appropriate and inappropriate touching and handling as part of personal care procedures
Develop communication skills to seek or reject assistance with personal care needs as required
Recognise that some personal care procedures and routines require privacy
Recognise and/or demonstrate the appropriate bathroom to use in different contexts
Demonstrate and/or assist with routines to ensure privacy for personal care routines
Plan for and participate in regular personal hygiene and grooming procedures
Participate in ways to improve personal health
