Life Skills for Stage 6

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Number
Whole numbers
  • Recognise and use language representing quantities

  • Use the digits 0 to 9 to represent a range of numbers

  • Identify where whole numbers are used in everyday contexts

  • Classify numbers as odd or even, positive or negative, and by number of digits

  • Count using different strategies

  • Order and compare numbers

  • Use ordinal terms in everyday contexts

  • Recognise factors and multiples of numbers

  • Identify and interpret negative numbers in a range of contexts

  • Recognise positive and negative numbers on a number line

  • Calculate using positive and negative numbers

  • Round whole numbers

Patterns
  • Recognise patterns in the built and natural environment

  • Describe number patterns

  • Recognise and extend patterns of shapes or numbers

  • Identify inconsistencies in shape or number sequences

Place value
  • Recognise that increasing powers of ten represent place value

  • Recognise decimal notations tenths, hundredths, thousandths
