The new Drama 7–10 Syllabus (2023) is to be implemented from 2026.
2024 and 2025 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2026 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Engage in role-play
Role-play in response to a social problem
Engage in improvisation and role-play to connect with others
Play with ways to create meaning for an audience
Explore dramatic forms or styles
Use dramatic forms or styles to shape an idea or story
Communicate ideas using stimulus from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Knowledges
Use a script to rehearse dialogue, action and character
Contribute to dramatic action or meaning
Enact ideas in warm-ups, workshops or rehearsals
Demonstrate respect for others’ ideas and contributions
Use voice, movement or equipment safely
Interact safely with others in drama, including gaining, giving and denying consent
Use or document trial-and-error processes to solve problems
Collaborate with others to respond to stimulus in play and improvisation
Collaborate to develop a group performance
Use the terminology of drama to communicate during play or rehearsal
Enact a character or role to solve a problem
Explore aspects of space to communicate through design or movement
Explore the elements of drama in improvisation and play
Rehearse using the elements of performance
Choose elements of production to support a performance
