The new Drama 7–10 Syllabus (2023) is to be implemented from 2026.
2024 and 2025 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2026 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Demonstrate self-advocacy skills
Perform to communicate with an audience
Use role-play to explore and express feelings
Use role-play to communicate ideas or emotions with others
Communicate meaning with an audience
Perform using the conventions of different dramatic forms or styles
Express self using stimulus from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Knowledges
Access drama for personal wellbeing or enjoyment at school or in the community
Contribute to a performance and/or production
Enact characters, situations or ideas for an audience
Demonstrate respect for diverse perspectives
Collaborate in an ensemble or stage crew
Connect with the community through dramatic performance
Develop processes for safe and inclusive performances
Interact respectfully with others, including gaining, giving and/or denying consent
Engage an audience through performance and production
Perform drama for own wellbeing or for shared enjoyment with an audience
