Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Local and global textile perspectives
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ textile Practices
  • Recognise textile products that are important to the local Community

  • Explore how textile products are used for expression, communication and Storytelling

  • Recognise Cultural connections to textile Practices in the classroom and local Community

  • Identify a range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander textile products

  • Explore materials, technologies and Cultural Practices used by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples

  • Explore how customary Practices are used in contemporary textile designs

  • Generate ideas influenced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ textile Practices

  • Identify Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) relating to design works

Historical and cultural influences on textile practices
  • Identify textile products from a range of cultures or historical periods

  • Explore similarities and differences in textile designers or products from different cultures or historical time periods
