The new History 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Stage 5
Teachers select from the following options.
Relating to Historical context 4 (core): The making of the modern world (1750–c. 1945)
- The Industrial Revolution
- The movement of peoples
- Imperialism in Asia
- Key ideas and movements
- The Holocaust
Relating to Historical context 5 (core): The modern world
- Rights and freedoms of Australian women
- Migration experiences
- Popular culture
- The environmental movement
Relating to content in either Stage 4 or Stage 5:
- School-developed topic
Content in Working with historical concepts and skills outlines how historical concepts and skills are to be integrated with all other content in this focus area as part of process of historical inquiry.

Create written texts to analyse historical concepts related to the Holocaust
Antisemitism and Jewish life in Europe before the Second World War (WWII)
The rise of the Nazi Party; Nazi propaganda and anti-Jewish laws from 1933–1939
Radicalisation from Kristallnacht to ghettoisation (1938–1940)
War in the East and the move towards the ‘Final Solution’
The development of labour and death camps
Differing forms of resistance
The development of the Holocaust including the varied implementation of Nazi policy in different parts of the world
Experiences of the Holocaust through survivor testimony
At least ONE of the following impacts and legacies:
Short-term and long-term impacts of the Holocaust on Jewish people
The impact of Nazi persecution on at least ONE group other than Jewish people
The creation of Holocaust centres, memorials and museums
