The new Commerce 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
The school-developed option enables teachers to guide students to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills related to a particular area of student interest.
The school-developed option should cover a particular area of interest not studied through other focus areas.
Determine the specific area of interest relevant to the syllabus outcomes
Identify information sources to investigate the specific area of interest
Plan the research
Locate relevant information using a range of strategies
Select information relevant to the investigation
Recognise ethical practices when researching
Use strategies to process and organise the information collected
Develop a plan to present the information researched
Select and use appropriate oral, visual, written or multimodal text to communicate the research findings
Incorporate images, diagrams and/or tables
Communicate the findings
Communicate solutions and/or actions in response to the specific area of interest investigated
