Year 11

Investigating ancient history – The nature of ancient history

Students discuss contemporary methods and issues involved in the investigation of Loading  history through a study of at least ONE of the following focus area options:

  • The investigation of ancient sites and Loading 
  • The Loading  of the ancient past
  • Conservation and Loading  of ancient sites
  • Cultural Loading  and the role of museums
  • The treatment and display of human remains.

The content may be taught as a standalone unit or teachers may develop an integrated study incorporating selected elements of 2 or more of the above 5 options. Content may also be integrated into Case studies, Features of ancient societies and the Historical investigation.

The treatment and display of human remains
Investigation
  • The condition of the human remains and how they were preserved, discovered, exhumed and/or removed

  • The methods and results of scientific analysis and Loading  preservation of the remains

  • The Loading  of the human remains in contributing to an understanding of the life and times in which they lived

  • The ethical issues relevant to the treatment, display, ownership and repatriation of the remains, including Aboriginal human remains
