Year 11

Investigating ancient history – The nature of ancient history

Students discuss contemporary methods and issues involved in the investigation of Loading  history through a study of at least ONE of the following focus area options:

  • The investigation of ancient sites and Loading 
  • The Loading  of the ancient past
  • Conservation and Loading  of ancient sites
  • Cultural Loading  and the role of museums
  • The treatment and display of human remains.

The content may be taught as a standalone unit or teachers may develop an integrated study incorporating selected elements of 2 or more of the above 5 options. Content may also be integrated into Case studies, Features of ancient societies and the Historical investigation.

The investigation of ancient sites and sources
Investigation
  • The changing nature of archaeological excavation, recording techniques and methods of analysis

  • Problems of authenticity and methods of authentication

  • Challenges associated with reconstructing the past using archaeological Loading 

  • The value and limitations of Loading  texts, inscriptions, petroglyphs and iconography to an understanding of the ancient past
