Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Composing
Music in practice
  • Interact with a variety of instruments, sound sources and voices

  • Experiment with performance methods to intentionally produce different musical material

  • Select, order and create original musical material

  • Explore connections between composers, performers and music

  • Develop and use vocabulary of composition

  • Record and notate musical material

  • Participate in group or individual composition and/or improvisation activities

  • Reflect on own work

Music in context
  • Participate in composing music that reflects a particular genre or style

  • Select and arrange sounds to create pieces of music for specific purposes or settings

  • Compose music using prompts and stimulus from a range of cultural contexts, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures, with consideration of principles of appropriation and respect

  • Provide feedback about ideas communicated in the compositions of others

  • Use feedback to improve own composition

  • Understand safety protocols related to sharing work on public or private forums
