7–10Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2025)
The new Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2019).
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

in Stage 4 teachers may adjust the Stage 5 outcomes as appropriate to the needs of students in Years 7 and 8.
Teachers select options from:
- Preparing for the workplace
- Workplace environments and culture
- Exploring post-school pathways
- Enterprise and entrepreneurial behaviours
- Managing income from work
- Connecting with the community
- School-developed option.

The range of community organisations at a local, national and international level, including those that support multicultural communities and people with disability
The roles and functions of community organisations
The need for community organisations
The importance of community organisations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
The fundraising strategies of community organisations
The relationships between the government and community organisations in a range of contexts
The relationship between working as a volunteer and active citizenship
The types of volunteer work
The sources of opportunities for people wanting to work as a volunteer
The contribution of unpaid work to the economy and society
The benefits for individuals who volunteer in community organisations
The nature of social capital
The creation of social capital through bonding within a group and bridging across groups
The importance of forming partnerships in the local and wider community
The benefits of investment in social capital for various groups in the community
The nature of social responsibility
The importance of workplaces balancing organisational needs with the wellbeing of people and communities, and with environmental sustainability
The various ways in which workplaces can be socially responsible
The consequences for workplaces that do not exercise social responsibility
Examine and practise skills in relation to workplace social responsibility in hypothetical and real-world work situations
Investigate a partnership in the community and the implications for social capital and social responsibility, and communicate findings using subject-specific terminology in written, oral, visual or multimodal form
