- Continue to teach the Modern History Stage 6 Syllabus (2017) for Year 12

- Start teaching new syllabuses for Year 12
- Start implementing new Year 12 school-based assessment requirements

- First HSC examination for new syllabus

Year 12
Students investigate key features of the history of ONE of the following options in Peace and conflict.
The historical concepts and skills content is to be integrated as appropriate.

- Conflict in the Pacific 1937–1951
- The Cold War 1945–1991
- The Arab–Israeli conflict 1948–2000
- Conflict in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos 1954–1976
- Conflict in the Gulf 1980–2017
The significance of the Geneva Conference for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos
The nature of US policy towards Vietnam before 1964
Political, economic, social and military developments in North and South Vietnam 1954–1964
The role of nationalism and communism in the conflict
The development of US policy towards Vietnam from 1964
The relationship of North Vietnam with China and the USSR
The nature and effectiveness of the strategies and tactics employed by the North Vietnamese Army, the National Liberation Front, the Army of the Republic of Vietnam and the US Armed Forces
The impact of the 1968 Tet Offensive
The impact of the war on civilians and the environment in Vietnam
