The aim of the History Elective 7–10 Syllabus is for students to:

• develop an understanding of the different methods used to understand the past

• foster an understanding of the diverse lives, experiences and viewpoints of people across different historical contexts and how these are represented

• explore multiple perspectives and sources of evidence to draw conclusions about the past

• participate in society as active, informed, and responsible citizens

• inspire a lifelong interest and passion for history.
