The new Commerce 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Choosing a business location and its impact on the success of a small business
Evaluation of finance options, including bank loans and seeking investors
Laws affecting the operation of a small business
The impact of the goods and services tax (GST) on businesses and consumers
Factors to consider when staffing a small business
Selecting and implementing appropriate marketing strategies to attract customers and sell goods and services
The purpose and use of financial records
The features of key financial statements and how to interpret them
Financial management strategies to improve business performance
Investigate a current issue in relation to running a business and communicate findings using relevant subject-specific terminology in written, oral, visual or multimodal form
Create written texts to explain and analyse aspects of running a business
