Year 11

Investigating ancient history – The nature of ancient history

Students discuss contemporary methods and issues involved in the investigation of Loading  history through a study of at least ONE of the following focus area options:

  • The investigation of ancient sites and Loading 
  • The Loading  of the ancient past
  • Conservation and Loading  of ancient sites
  • Cultural Loading  and the role of museums
  • The treatment and display of human remains.

The content may be taught as a standalone unit or teachers may develop an integrated study incorporating selected elements of 2 or more of the above 5 options. Content may also be integrated into Case studies, Features of ancient societies and the Historical investigation.

Conservation and reconstruction of ancient sites
Investigation
  • The nature of the site(s), and the condition and extent of the remains

  • Issues of conservation and management of the site(s), including factors that threaten the integrity or survival of the Loading  site

  • The effectiveness of methods used to conserve and/or reconstruct the site(s), including relevant national or international charters or conventions

  • The Loading  of the ancient site(s), including restoration of a site to its original form and digital reconstructions
