The new Music Life Skills 11–12 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2027 and will replace the Music Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009).

- Continue to teach the Music Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009) for Year 12

Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Students perform, create, listen and respond to an aspect of music from a style, composer, genre, cultural tradition, performance practice or compositional approach. Through engagement with selected repertoire, students deepen their understanding of how Music context and the Elements of music communicate meaning and identify how musical ideas are constructed, interpreted and conveyed.
Music context and Elements of music should be integrated with this focus area as appropriate to the needs, abilities and prior learning of students.
Participate in performing music related to the aspect selected
Perform with awareness of the Elements of music
Reflect on the audience response to the performance
Engage with and respond to feedback to refine performance
Indicate a preference for an aspect of music
Identify ways musical ideas are expressed
Engage with a piece of music to identify vocal and instrument sources
Engage with a piece of music to identify melody, harmony or rhythm
Engage with a piece of music to identify digital manipulation of sounds
Communicate ideas about the selected aspect of music
Explore the selected aspect of music as inspiration for own compositions
Identify the purpose and audience for a music composition
