Life Skills for Stage 6

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Motion

Relevant Working scientifically outcomes and content should be integrated with each focus area based on the strengths and needs of individual students.

Loading
Frictional force and motion
  • Observe the effects of friction

  • Identify examples of frictional force in daily living

  • Engage with Aboriginal Knowledges about the use of frictional force to start a fire

  • Classify frictional forces as useful or non-useful

  • Participate in a practical investigation to explore the impact of frictional force on motion

  • Recognise that frictional forces oppose motion

  • Identify technologies in daily living that use frictional force to improve safety

  • Identify ways to reduce frictional force in everyday contexts

Gravitational force and motion
  • Observe objects under the effects of gravity

  • Recognise gravitational force as a force of attraction between objects

  • Participate in a practical investigation to demonstrate that objects have greater acceleration down steeper inclines

  • Participate in a scientific investigation to determine the time taken for an object to fall from a height

Projectile motion
  • Identify examples of projectiles

  • Recognise that a projectile has horizontal and vertical motion

  • Observe the horizontal distance (range) that a projectile travels

  • Participate in a scientific investigation to explore ways to impact the range of a projectile

  • Demonstrate how to increase the range of a projectile in everyday contexts
