The new Commerce 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

The types of businesses and their features
The importance of inputs, transformation processes and outputs in a business
The recruitment and selection of skilled staff and the impact on business performance
How competition affects businesses
The processes that businesses use to create and maintain a competitive advantage
The impacts of the business cycle, including booms and recessions
The importance of ethical decision-making and corporate social responsibility
Evaluation of business performance using actual and/or hypothetical business situations
The characteristics of entrepreneurship and how they can influence the success of a business
The benefits of adopting an entrepreneurial mindset
The contributions of entrepreneurs to society, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs
Investigate a current issue in relation to the business environment, and communicate findings using relevant subject-specific terminology in written, oral, visual or multimodal form
Create written texts to explain and analyse aspects of the business environment
