The new English Studies 11–12 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2026 and will replace the English Studies Stage 6 Syllabus (2017).
2025
- Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2026, Term 1
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Start implementing the new Year 11 school-based assessment requirements
- Continue to teach the English Studies Stage 6 Syllabus (2017) for Year 12
2026, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
- Start implementing the new Year 12 school-based assessment requirements
2027
- First HSC examination for the new syllabus
Content
Year 12
- EN-LS-09composes texts for a variety of purposes and audiences 
- EN-LS-10uses language forms and features to compose texts 
- EN-LS-11plans, reflects on and revises the composition of texts 
- Recognise that photographs, pictures or symbols communicate meaning 
- Loading texts that offer personal responses to a chosen text 
- Represent personal experiences and ideas for particular Loading and Loading 
- Compose texts for different purposes and audiences using appropriate Loading , language or visual features to communicate, including workplace and real-life texts 
- Loading multimodal texts to inform or engage an audience
