Life Skills for Stage 6

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Investigating modern history – The nature of modern history

Students may investigate one or more of the following options, part of an option or elements of the content as appropriate. Content from the options can also be combined for an integrated study or combined with any of the case studies.

  • The investigation of historic sites and sources
  • The contestability of the past
  • The construction of modern histories
  • The representation and commemoration of the past

  • The condition of historical sites

  • The importance of historical sites

  • Sources can be used to ask and answer questions about the past

  • Different sources can provide different interpretations of the past

Storing and archiving records
  • How historic sites can provide historians with an understanding of events, people and developments in the past

  • Ways historians record history

  • Ways to store digital records

  • Ways to store paper records

  • Ways to preserve historical records
