The new Commerce 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.

School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Major costs involved in independent living, including establishment costs and ongoing costs

Constructing a household budget that includes income, savings and fixed and variable expenses
Consequences of poor financial management
Types of accommodation and their suitability for particular situations and needs
Compare accommodation costs and calculate affordability
The process of arranging a lease, including tenancy rights and responsibilities
Purchasing a car, including initial costs, recurring costs and depreciation
Purchasing major household items
Options available when purchasing major items, including payment options, and new, second-hand and joint ownership
