Life Skills for Stage 6

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Investigating ancient history – The nature of ancient history

Students may investigate one or more of the following options, part of an option or elements of the content as appropriate. Content from the options can also be combined for an integrated study or combined with any of the case studies.

  • The investigation of ancient sites and sources
  • The representation of the ancient past
  • Conservation and reconstruction of ancient sites
  • Cultural heritage and the role of museums
  • The treatment and display of human remains
Conservation and reconstruction of ancient sites
Sites and sources
  • The nature and location of one or more historical sites

  • The condition of historical sites

  • The importance of historical sites

  • Sources can be used to ask and answer questions about the past

  • Different sources can provide different interpretations of the past

Conservation and reconstruction
  • Ways in which history is preserved or conserved, including personal or community history

  • Threats to conservation and reconstruction

  • Efforts to conserve or reconstruct historical sites

  • How ancient sites are portrayed in popular culture

  • Reliability of reconstructions of ancient sites
