The new Drama Life Skills 11–12 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2027 and will replace the Drama Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009).

- Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027, Term 1
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Continue to teach the Drama Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009) for Year 12
2027, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
The Drama project provides an opportunity for students to make, perform and critically reflect as they explore personal interests in drama. Students undertake an individual or group project in one of the following areas:
- designing, such as costume, promotion or set design
- devising, such as script writing or short film
- performing, such as individual or group performances
- responding, such as director’s notes.
Students may undertake a whole project or parts of a project.
Explore inspiration for the drama project
Identify the focus of the drama project
Explore the purpose and audience for the drama project
Participate in planning the drama project
Explore collaborative opportunities during the development of the drama project
Consider protocols and responsibilities to be followed when undertaking the drama project
Experiment with dramatic elements to communicate ideas in the drama project
Make choices about the use of one or more dramatic elements to communicate meaning in the drama project
Respond to feedback when devising the drama project
Refine ideas for the drama project
Demonstrate responsible protocols when working with others
Enact safety considerations when undertaking the drama project
Use dramatic elements to communicate meaning to an audience
Use or identify aspects of staging or performance to engage the audience
Engage with and respond to feedback to refine the drama project
Present the drama project to an audience
Reflect on each stage of the project and record reflections
Reflect on how drama can be used for self-expression
Reflect on the effect of the creative choices made in the drama project
Identify how dramatic elements were used to engage the audience
Identify successful creative choices made in the drama project
Identify creative choices that could be improved in the drama project
Recognise the contributions of others
Explore the purpose and benefits of self-reflection
